How We Doubled Headspace Course Starts (And Why Getting People to Meditate is Harder)
Case Studies
Intuit, the global technology platform behind TurboTax, QuickBooks, and Credit Karma, partnered with Irrational Labs to help PM’s build AI habits into their daily workflows. The result? PM’s gained an average of 8 hours per week to focus on high-value work.
Irrational Labs partnered with Intuit Payroll to test whether the payroll enrollment moment could be redesigned to unlock latent demand for emergency saving. When prompted to “save when they get paid” at the moment of setting up Payroll, nearly 20% of people saved compared to 3% in the control.
Headspace partnered with Irrational Labs and Purchasely to redesign onboarding for new users to increase active use during the free trial period. The new experience more than doubled course starts and increased app opens and unique app open days. But those gains did not lead to a statistically significant increase in active meditation days. The lesson: behavioral design at onboarding can drive early action and engagement, but real habit formation requires behavioral design across the full experience, not just at the front door.
OpenStore partnered with Irrational Labs to position their new AI solution, OpenDesk, for adoption—and successfully launched as a compelling alternative in the customer support market.
How do you help investors avoid a lapse in earnings by reinvesting when their bonds mature? Irrational Labs partnered with the National Treasury of Brazil and B3, Brazil’s main stock exchange, to solve this. The experiment drove five times more scheduled reinvestments relative to control.
How do you capture attention and motivate more users to engage with new features? We partnered with Lyft to test messaging that would do just that—and increased new driver opt-ins by 173%. Read to find out how we did it.
Our prompts successfully reduced flagged content shares by 24% when compared to a control group.
How can we reduce customer churn? We designed a program to help new advertisers succeed.
We worked with Uber to design, launch, and test a savings wallet for all Uber drivers.
